Cartridges!

hey guys
now, a little nice something I found while walking around the street commerce tents here where I live:

NES and SNES cartridges! and power rangers

it's too bad I don't have a SNES anymore, or else I would buy it for sure, lol!

So, it reminded me... of the time when games were hard to came by, one had to search a lot for good games (specially RPGs and indie games) for rent. nowdays, the torrent generation is used to have every game just clicks away, and while that's a good thing.... I don't know, gaming kind of lost a little magic, you know? the "waiting so long to play THAT special game" thing.
well, I'm a nostalgic person, can't help!

and you? agree, disagree?

(p.s.: I'm not an english native speaker, so sorry for any mistakes ;) )

  1. OMG!!!!!!!!!

A wave of nostalgia just overwhelmed me when I saw that Power Rangers cartridge there!

Then I realised just now that I played my first Power Rangers game on the PS1 not on the NES.

Still, gotta love that nostalgia. Nice post, this'll keep me happy for the day hahaha. :)

  3. That wave of nostalgia from the NES! Sitting and blowing in to the cassettes and the nes station for 20 minutes just to make the game start :D

  4. Haven't played with a SNES in so long, and I totally agree, waiting for a game to come out was part of the experiences of the game!

  5. Miss the old days of buying a game with your saved pocketmoney, and that feeling of "OMG I CAN'T WAIT TO GET HOME TO PLAY IT!!"
Trouble was my mothers car was soooo slow so had to wait twice as long!!

  7. Yeah, I agree. Used to play SNES at my neighbors every day when I was younger. Booting it up on the computer today really isn't the same thing.

  9. Don't worry you're English is probably better than mine lol. I've been missing my SNES for a while emulators just aren't enough.

  10. Ahh, makes me feel nostalgia just by looking at it. But hey, you still get that 'waiting' feeling when you're buying games that are exclusive to consoles. I usually order them from overseas so it makes it THAT much better when getting to play them.

  18. this is where i learned the life lesson "if it doesn't work, just blow in it". unfortunately this does not work with romantic reltionships, or anything besides nintendo.

  19. I was thinking the exact same thing. That's when I removed my snes emulator. I still have my NES one, but all I have there are super mario games. But I understand entirely what you mean!

  29. I certainly agree, though renting games was hit or miss back in the day because the game could be really bad if you never played it before. Also, cartridges had that oh so sturdy feel to them.

  36. I can see where your coming with the thought on missing that waiting to play a game thing. But for me as a kid I some times had to wait years or never play it! I once rented civ2 for nintendo and played it and loved it but when I went back to the video store to re rent it they had sold it and most of there other games... I never played it again and it would be a decade till I played civ 3 on computer. So for me I can't be nostalgic of things like that.

PS I still have my nes and snes!

  37. Why do I feel so old? I remember all this and I wasn't a kid. I had a kid when this came out.

  38. AH I still remember when you had to take out the cartridge and then blow into it to get it working! Suddenly all problems were solved! haha

  41. Yeah I agree the magic is kind of lost with everything so easy now. Speaking of which I just sold my snes games, most of them, for almost $2000..haha...guess cartridges are worth more than torrents huh?

  42. I dunno guys, I've never seen a relationship a good blow couldn't fix.

  43. God, I remember having those. Good times, too bad I lost all of them by now

  44. Agh I wish I lived there!! I want that!

  45. Pretty sure I played one of those power ranger snes games a long time ago. I love snes and still have one along with some of my favorite games like EarthBound and Super Mario World. It's always more enjoyable to be able to play the game how it was meant to be played, on the console.
